“Mely and I have a slow burn going, but I can tell when it ignites, it’s going to become hotter than an inferno.”

                                                                                                             ~ Lowe

This quote is the perfect way to describe this book. It says it all. It is a slow burn but when the fire starts, it consumes.

I absolutely love this series. The first book was great, this book, even better! I loved Lowe and Mely, both stubborn and set in their ways. Both with hearts of gold though. There is a thin line between love and hate and they make sure they cross that line several times.

Mely is a city girl and you definitely know that but at the same time she isn’t an “up- in your face, flaunt her wealth around” girl. She slowly starts to fit in more with the town of Whynot and I love that while she did this she also didn’t lose herself. She was more finding her true self along the way. Her best friend Morri was fantastic. I loved every second of him when he was around.

Lowe is hurt and is taking it out on the wrong person. He has to lash out at someone so he chooses Mely. When he is ordered to help her fix the Mainer House, who would have known it would lead them on a journey together. I loved Lowe, I felt bad for him and the fact he was so deeply hurt by his family selling the Mainer House. I liked watching him come to terms with everything and slowly falling for Mely.

I loved seeing some of the other family members and more of the town’s people in this book. I am excited for Lakin’s book next. This series is so sweet and I have loved every character, especially Pap!
