Review

“Fake it ‘til you make it.”

                                ~ Jada

Jada Stanley has had a rough few years. Her marriage to the perfect guy turned out not to be her happily ever after. She is back home and starting over, living with her sister and working for her Dad. She has decided to live life by a certain set of rules with no exceptions, but is she really living life and just existing? Those are questions she will ask herself after a chance meeting with Cane Alexander. Cane Alexander has his own set of rules he lives his life by and Jada does not fit into those rules.

Jada is a wonderful character. I absolutely loved her from the beginning. She has had a rough time lately but she is getting her life back together slowly. She has the support of her sister and Dad. If only her soon to be ex-husband would sign the divorce papers.  Jada is someone that I think the reader will truly connect with and enjoy her story. She may have been down but she isn’t out.

“You shouldn’t try to play games with me because I’m not a player, I’m the coach.”

                                                                                                              ~ Cane

Cane….Cane, Cane, Cane!  Cane is one cocky SOB. He has his own set of rules he lives by:  1) Trust no one. 2) Take responsibility for your own success and failures. 3) Embrace being alone. He lives life fast and screws hard. He isn’t a relationship type and has no problem making that crystal clear. His past has made him the way he is and he has no intentions of ever changing. He is successful, never lacking for company and very imperfect, but his life gets a shock when he happens to meet Jada. He tries molding her into his rules but that doesn’t work.

When Jada and Cane are together fireworks happen. Not always good ones but always fireworks. I absolutely loved that these two people are flawed and imperfect but not completely broken. They are perfect for each other and complement each other so well. The author did a fantastic job of drawing the reader into their story and not letting you leave.

Kari and Max…I really hope they get their own story. Kari is Jada’s sister and Max is Cane’s best friend. They are the reason Jada and Cane meet. Their story in the background is such an important part of Jada and Cane’s story. These characters draw you in as much as Jada and Cane do and I really hope they get their HEA soon!

I highlighted so many quotes in this book. I honestly don’t think I have highlighted this much in one book before. This book is so well written. It will have you cheering at some points and holding your breath with tears in your eyes at others. I recommend this book to everyone. It is a quick easy read but it will draw you into their world and you won’t want it to end. There is some suspense in the book which I really liked as well.
